What To Expect

WE UNDERSTAND THAT IT CAN BE A LITTLE INTIMIDATING to find your way around a new place. To help visitors become familiar with our church, friendly members are on hand to help you find your way around. If you have any questions, we encourage you to ask. If you’re “just looking” that’s fine too. We look forward to meeting you at one of our gatherings throughout the week!

SUNDAY WORSHIP

Join us for worship Sundays at 10:00 AM

SUNDAY BIBLE CLASSES

We also offer Sunday Bible classes that meet at 9:00am Sunday every morning. We also meet for Bible study at 6:30pm on Wednesday nights.

We make Bible study a priority. Our adult bible classes are a great place to come and study God’s word together with godly minded people. It’s a safe environment to dig deeper into God’s word, which is “able to save our souls.” We offer age-appropriate children’s classes for all ages at the same times.

What is WORSHIP like?

The first thing you will probably notice is that there are no instruments. That’s not an accident. We believe God has given each of us the perfect instrument to praise Him…our hearts. We are told to “sing and melody in our hearts” (Eph. 5:19). We come from a rich heritage of vocal music that emphasizes simplicity, participation and community. Most guests are inspired by the blend of harmonies as every voice is lifted in praise.

COMMUNION & OFFERING

Every Sunday, we pause to remember the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. We celebrate the body and blood of Jesus through a meal involving bread and grape juice. We call it communion or the Lord’s Supper. The purpose is to remind the church of the new covenant we have with God through the sacrifice of Jesus, to encourage us to live transformed lives because of what Jesus has done for us and to remain connected to one another…communion is a family affair.

We also take up a weekly offering to help advance God’s kingdom both locally and abroad. As a guest, you are not expected to make an offering. Offerings are made by our members as part of their commitment to God and the local church.

What Should I WEAR?

On Sunday morning, you will see people dressed in a wide range of attire from jeans to dress clothes. We want everyone to feel at home. At Walnut Street, we care more about your heart than your clothes.

What should I BRING to church?

The main thing we’d like for you to bring is an open heart and mind. If you have a Bible, we’d love for you to bring it. If you don’t have a Bible, we can help provide you with one. All Scripture is inspired of God and profitable for teaching, correction, for instruction in righteousness…expect to hear it preached and quoted throughout our worship time together!

We look forward to your arrival real soon!
